How to Make Your Lawn Feel Like Autumn Is In the Air
An estimated 85 million households in the United States have their own private lawn. With that lawn, there are so many opportunities for decorating, renovating, and expressing your style. There are many different things you can add to your lawn to encompass your own personal look and so many things you can do to dress it up for the holidays.
Fall is upon us, which means there are plenty of opportunities for pumpkin spicing up your yard. Need some ideas for what to do? Let’s take a look at a few of them!
Structure
A great way to incorporate hardscaping into your fall-themed yard is with the use of stones and other structures. You can work on hardscaping by adding a fall-colored fencing, lily ponds with fall-colored fish, and stones that look like jack-o-lanterns. If you want to take hardscaping to the next level, add some statues or other things like scarecrows. With the scarecrows, you’re emulating your love for fall all while keeping birds away from your yard.
Plants
Spruce up your yard with trees, bushes, and plants. Plan to put yellow and orange followers along your patio/walk ways for a cozy, crisp-air vibe. You may also be able to find deep red mulch to surround your plants with. This is a great option if you don’t want to do a ton of work, but still want to stick with the season. You can also choose to incorporate a plant that looks very unusual. It can give off a spooky vibe and have your guests asking “what’s this?”
Use Contrast
Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you have to stick to war and deep colors when landscaping. Mix it up a little! Don’t be afraid to take some dark plants and put them next to something bright and cheery. Sunflowers are always a good option as they give off a fall feel while still bringing a little aspect of summer into the picture.
When decorating your lawn for fall, there are so many things you can do! Take a few of the suggestions listed above and go with them. Better yet, make them your own by putting your own spin, and maybe even fake cobwebs, onto the bushes!
